Three individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the double murder near the Devinuwara Sri Vishnu Dewalaya, police said.
The attack is believed to have been orchestrated by an underworld figure identified as Shehan Sathsara, alias ‘Bale Malli’, who is reportedly in hiding in Dubai.
The victims, 29-year-old Pasindu Tharaka and Yomesh Nadeeshan, both residents of Devinuwara, were returning home after attending a birthday party at a house in Kapugampura when they were targeted.
They were travelling on a motorbike when they were pursued by a group in a van. The suspects reportedly rammed the motorbike, opened fire on the two men, and fled the scene. The van was later found set ablaze a short distance away.
