Sri Lanka Police say former Parliamentarian Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan was arrested in connection with investigations into the enforced disappearance of an individual.
The former State Minister and TMVP leader was arrested by a team of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officials in Batticaloa yesterday.
The Police stated that the arrest was made in connection with the abduction and subsequent disappearance of an individual.
According to media reports, Pillayan has been arrested in connection with an investigation into the disappearance of a university vice-chancellor in the Eastern Province in 2006.
It is reported that the former Parliamentarian, who was arrested in Batticaloa last night, is being transported to Colombo. (Newswire)
