Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has welcomed the government’s decision to extend the suspension of the Parate Law, highlighting that over 263,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have faced closure due to its impact.

“When I raised the urgent issue of the Parate Law in Parliament, it was on behalf of 263,000+ MSMEs who have faced closure. I welcome the government’s decision to extend the suspension, this is the way forward, working together in the national interest” Premadasa said the decision reflects the importance of working together in the national interest.

However, he stressed that the relief should not stop there. “Loan rescheduling, affordable working capital, and targeted revival plans are essential to truly support our struggling entrepreneurs,” he said.

The Opposition Leader urged authorities to move beyond survival strategies and focus on rebuilding the MSME sector, which he described as the backbone of the economy. (Newswire)
