Former State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, widely known as ‘Pillayan’, has been detained for 90 days under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) obtained the detention order following his arrest on April 8 in Batticaloa. The detention is in connection with the 2006 abduction and disappearance of a university vice chancellor in the Eastern Province.
The CID is continuing its investigation into the incident under the provisions of the PTA. (Newswire)
