Sri Lanka Police say that by 6.00 p.m. today (22), over 80,000 pilgrims have already gathered in Kandy to take part in the “Siri Dalada Vandana” program scheduled for tomorrow (23).
Issuing a statement, police stated that the number of devotees arriving is expected to exceed 100,000 by tomorrow morning, and may further increase by noon.
Given the high turnout, police have advised the public to consider visiting on one of the four remaining days allocated for the “Siri Dalada Vandana” program to avoid overcrowding and ensure a more peaceful experience.
The special religious program commenced on April 18 and has so far seen a large number of devotees paying homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic. (NewsWire)
