Police have recovered a foreign-made pistol allegedly hidden for use in a planned killing in the Bollatha area of Ganemulla.
The firearm was recovered from a cemetery following information obtained from a suspect being held under a detention order by the Western Province North Crime Division.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the weapon had allegedly been hidden there on the instructions of an organised crime figure who is currently overseas, with the intention of using it to carry out a killing.
The Western Province North Crime Division is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
