The Colombo High Court today (29) rejected the bail applications filed by alleged underworld figure and drug trafficker Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, alias Harak Kata, and two other defendants.
The court also rejected requests made by lawyers seeking the release of two additional defendants in connection with the case.
Colombo High Court Judge Buddhika C. Ragala issued the order, stating that the bail applications could not be considered at this stage.
The Judge noted that the Attorney General had filed an appeal before the Court of Appeal challenging a previous order issued by the Colombo High Court.
Accordingly, the court declined to consider the bail applications and requests for release while the appeal remains pending.
