Leader of the Opposition MP Sajith Premadasa attended Parliament sittings wearing a scarf, to show solidarity with the victims of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Addressing the Parliament today (Dec 07), MP Premadasa said he wore the scarf in support of the rights of the women, children and citizens being killed in the conflict.
“I am wearing this shawl to express my solidarity to attain peace in the Middle East and also peace and security worldwide,” he said.
He further said they condemn the attacks carried out targeting civilians of both countries, while they also reject those promoting nationalism and extremism.
MP Premadasa also clarified that his scarf does not symbolise support for one country, but stands for peace in both Israel and Palestine and mainly world peace. (NewsWire)
