Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket official Apsari Singhabahu Tilakaratne has announced her appointment as the Chief Organizer for Colombo-West for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) ahead of the upcoming General Election.
Apsari Tilakaratne, along with her husband, former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Hashan Tilakaratne, extended their support to SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa during the 2024 Presidential Election.
Speaking to the media following her appointment, Apsari Singhabahu Tilakaratne stated that her role involves identifying young women from various rural areas and helping them represent the nation through sports.
Apsari also mentioned that she intends to contest the 2024 Parliamentary Election to fulfil her responsibilities as the SJB’s Chief Organizer for Colombo-West.
In her role within Sri Lanka Cricket, Apsari Tilakaratne has been instrumental in promoting women’s cricket in rural areas. (Newswire)
