Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa has denied allegations that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had been privy to documents about the summons issued to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe by the Bribery Commission.

Addressing the post-Cabinet media briefing today, Minister Jayatissa responded to questions raised on concerns raised by the former President Ranil Wickremesinghe in this regard during a recent media briefing.

Responding to the questions, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said the former President himself had announced to the public via social media that he had been summoned before the Bribery Commission on 17 April.

“On 11th April, Ranil Wickremesinghe had made it public via social media that has had been summoned by the Bribery Commission on 17th April. He, himself, has said that due to his unavailability, he has been given an alternative day. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake must have picked up this information from there. Ranil Wickremesinghe may have forgotten what he, himself, had said earlier,” he said.

Revealing that this was what had happened, Minister Jayatissa clarified that these details had not been informed to President Dissanayake by the Bribery Commission, as claimed by some. (Newswire)
