The National Election Commission has announced the appointment of Ratnayake Mudiyanselage Samantha Ranasinghe as a Member of Parliament representing the Kegalle District.
Ranasinghe has been elected under Section 62 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, No. 1 of 1981, following the death of MP Hapu Arachchige Kosala Nuwan Jayaweera.
The appointment has been made in accordance with Section 99(13)(b) of the Constitution and Section 64(2) of the same Act.
