Seven Iranian nationals have been sentenced to life for transporting over 425 kilos of heroin by boat in the seas off Mattakkuliya in Colombo in 2019.
The Colombo High Court issued the verdict after the suspects had pleaded guilty via their attorney when the case was taken up for hearing today.
The suspects were arrested with a large haul of narcotics during a raid conducted by the Police Narcotics Bureau in July 2019.
Following the arrest, the Attorney General filed indictments against the suspects before the Colombo High Court.
After pleading guilty to the charges, the Colombo High Court today ordered them to be sentenced to life. (Newswire)
