“Our survey says Ranil will win in 14 districts” Prof. Nanda Dharmaratne

A group of lawyers say a survey conducted by them reveals that President Ranil Wickremesinghe had the majority support of students from private and state universities in the 2024 Presidential Election.

According to Lankadeepa newspaper Attorney-at-Law Nalin Pathirana told the media that various surveys are being conducted on social media on the possible outcome of the election, but that a survey conducted on students from private and key state universities predicts majority support for President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

“33,280 samples were taken across the country for this survey. A Google form was utilised to record the opinions of the citizens. The survey was conducted for a month ending on September 07. Among the samples, only 4.5% had yet to decide on a candidate” he said.

Also addressing the media, the Chairman of the National Library and Documentation Services Prof. Nanda Dharmaratne said that as per the survey, President Ranil Wickremesinghe is predicted to secure majority votes in 14 districts.

Prof. Nanda Dharmaratne said the districts include Colombo, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Badulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and Digamadulla.
