Sri Lanka has recorded a workers’ remittance of US$ 517.4 million in October 2023, Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara announced.
Taking to ‘X’, Minister Nanayakkara said Sri Lanka has amassed a total of US$ 7.6 billion in workers’ remittances since he assumed duties as the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment in May 2022.
Minister Nanayakkara said the workers’ remittance recorded for October 2023 is 45.63% higher than the US$ 355.4 million reported in October of the previous year.
Sri Lanka has amassed a total of US$ 4.8 billion in workers’ remittances during the first 10 months of 2023, compared to US$ 2.9 billion reported during the same period in 2022.
Minister Nanayakkara said, thereby, the workers’ remittance recorded in the first 10 months of 2023 is 66% higher than that reported during the same period in the previous year. (NewsWire)
