The proposal for the declaration of “National Women’s Week” in March in line with the commemoration of the 2025 International Women’s Day has received a Cabinet nod.

The United Nations declared March 08 as International Women’s Day in 1977 and since, all member countries have commemorated March 08th as International Women’s Day every year.

This year’s International Women’s Day celebration is themed “Equality, Empowerment, and Dignity for All Women and Girls.”

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Prime Minister, as the Minister of Women and Child Affairs, to implement the programs at the national, provincial, district, and divisional levels, including the commemoration of International Women’s Day nationally.

As such, it has been proposed to declare “National Women’s Week” from March 02 to 08 this year with the theme “Building a sustainable tomorrow—her strength is the path” in line with the commemoration of the 2025 International Women’s Day. (Newswire)
