Four suspects, including two teenagers, have been arrested on charges of printing and possession of counterfeit currency notes.
The Police said a 17-year-old boy from Nochchiyagama was arrested for the possession of six counterfeit Rs. 500 notes on Tuesday.
Inspection of his house had led the Police to find several pieces of equipment used for the printing of counterfeit currency notes.
Further interrogations had led the Thambuththegama Police to arrest three more suspects with counterfeit currency notes on Wednesday.
The suspects were found to be in possession of 08 counterfeit Rs. 5000 currency notes and 149 counterfeit Rs. 500 notes.
The arrested suspects are aged 19, 49, and 54 years old and are residents of Hettipola.
