A 42-year-old wanted suspect has been killed in a shootout with the Police in the Meetiyagoda area early this morning (Oct 12).
The Police said the suspect was wanted over the murder of a Police Inspector in the Rathgama area on Monday.
The Police STF had conducted a raid based on information that the suspect was hiding in a house in Meetiyagoda.
Upon their arrival, the suspect fired at the STF officers prompting them to retaliate during which the suspect had been shot and injured.
The suspect, a 42-year-old resident of Wadduwa had succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital. (NewsWire)
