A writ application that was filed challenging the citizenship of State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage will be called up on the 28th of November 2022.

Issuing the order, the Court of Appeal also instructed to send notice to all respondents, including State Minister Diana Gamage.

State Minister Diana Gamage, the Public Security Minister, the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, and the Chairman of the National Election Commission among 15 others have been named as respondents in the case.

The court orders were given after the writ application was taken up for consideration before justices Shobitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola today.

The writ application was filed by civil activist Osanda Lakmal Anil Herath seeking a ruling that State Minister Diana Gamage was unqualified to serve as a Member of the Sri Lankan Parliament.

Meanwhile, the overseas travel ban that was imposed on State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage was extended yesterday by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court until 15th December 2022.

The court had imposed a travel ban on State Minister Diana Gamage in November over a complaint filed in October pertaining to her passport, birth certificate, and National Identity Card (NIC). (NewsWire)
