The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has been ordered to obtain relevant reports from the British High Commission in Colombo with regard to the citizenship of State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage.
The order was issued to the CID by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court when the case pertaining to the State Minister’s citizenship was taken up for hearing today.
The court further ordered the CID to obtain the relevant reports expeditiously and commence investigations.
A petition was filed by civil activist Oshala Herath challenging the citizenship of the State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage.
In the petition, Herath sought a ruling that Gamage was unqualified to serve as a Member of the Sri Lankan Parliament due to her British citizenship. (NewsWire)
