A body of a woman has been found at the Colombo Racecourse Grounds today (17).
The Police Media Unit told NewsWire that the victim has been identified as a 24-year-old resident of Homagama.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that she is a student at Colombo University.
The Police stated that the victim had been hacked to death, while details of the suspect are yet to be ascertained.
The Magisterial inquiry into the death will be conducted today at the scene of the crime.
Meanwhile, Lankadeepa reported quoting Police sources that Police are suspecting that the woman might have been murdered by her boyfriend.
The boyfriend is reported to have fled the area, and the Cinnamon Gardens Police have launched investigations into the murder. (NewsWire)
