The National People’s Power (NPP) has proposed measures to overcome Sri Lanka’s economic crisis during a summit attended by representatives of several sectors including trade unions.
Addressing the summit held in Colombo today, NPP Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that Sri Lanka is in the midst of a crisis and that it is a resolvable issue.
MP Dissanayake further said stability is essential to resolve the crisis, and the first step is to put behind the loans already obtained and obtain more loans.
Secondly boosting the dollar-earning tourism sector and thirdly the remittances of Sri Lankan migrant workers must be increased to that of the pre covid period, he said.
The MP pointed out that the key step is to temporarily change the lifestyle for a short period of time.
All these can only be implemented by a government that has the mandate of the people of the nation, he added. (NewsWire)
