The suspect wanted over the murder of the father of cricketer Dhananjaya de Silva has been arrested four years after the incident.
Malindu Lakmal alias ‘Kotiya’, a resident of Ratmalana, was wanted over the murder of Ranjan de Silva.
Ranjan de Silva, a member of the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council was shot dead on 24th May 2018.
The Police stated that ‘Kotiya’ was arrested by the Mt. Lavinia Police Division’s Crimes Investigation Unit based on a tip-off.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect was directly involved in the Councillor’s murder, and was staying near the Angulana Sayuru Pura apartment complex.
It has also been uncovered that the suspect is a close relative of Sinhara Amal Saminda Silva alias ‘Kudu Anju’, involved in organized crimes and drug trafficking, as well as a close associate of underworld gangster Ellawala Liyanage Dharmasiri alias ‘Patiya’. (NewsWire)
