Former Deputy Minister Myown Mustaffa has been sentenced to six months in prison for providing a bribe to secure the support of a candidate in the 2010 Presidential Election.
According to NewsFirst, Myown Mustaffa’s civic rights have also been suspended for seven years.
The former UNP Parliamentarian had been accused of giving Rs. 4.2 million to the then MP Mohammed Musammil of the National Freedom Front for seeking his support in favour of Sarath Fonseka during the run-up to the 2010 January 26 Presidential poll. (NewsWire)
