An Air Force Sergeant has been arrested over a missing firearm and ammunition from the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) base in Ratmalana.
The Mount Lavinia Police stated that a T-56 weapon and 120 rounds of ammunition in four magazines were reported missing from the SLAF base on Monday (20).
The Police further stated that the weapon and ammunition had been buried and were recovered from a vegetable plot in Anguruwatota, Panadura.
Investigations had revealed that the T-56 weapon and 120 rounds of ammunition in four magazines had been stolen from the armoury of the SLAF at the Ratmalana Base on Monday.
The Police stated that the suspect will be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
