Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Chamal Rajapaksa has been appointed as the Chair of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
He was unanimously appointed to the post yesterday (09) for the Fourth Session of the Ninth Parliament, it was reported.
MP Rajapaksa’s name was proposed by MP Ali Sabri Raheem and was seconded by State Minister Vijitha Berugoda.
Following the appointment, the Committee on Ethics and Privileges decided to take up matters that were discussed during the Third Session of the Ninth Parliament which are in pending status and agreed for them to be taken into future consideration.
The committee also held a discussion on holding a workshop for the heads of media organizations and a separate workshop to educate Members of Parliament regarding ethics and privileges.
Meanwhile, SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa was also appointed yesterday (09) as the Chairman of the Parliament Sectorial Oversight Committee on International Relations. (NewsWire)
