The Kandy Police has launched a probe to arrest a businessman from Polgahawela over the abduction of a 16-year-old child over a dispute pertaining to a monetary transaction with the victim’s mother.
According to Daily News, a complaint by the mother states that the child, who is a resident of Hanthana in Kandy, had been abducted on Wednesday afternoon (15).
The woman had informed the Police that the abduction had taken place as the cheques she had given the businessman for the purchase of a stock of material worth Rs. 1.2 million a few months ago had not been honoured.
The woman had reportedly filed a complaint on Wednesday night after the businessman had released the child in Mawanella providing money to travel home by bus.
Investigations have revealed that the child had not suffered any physical or other injuries and had been forcefully abducted.
The Police have launched an investigation to apprehend the businessman involved in the abduction. (NewsWire)
