The Department of Meteorology says showers are expected in a few areas in Sri Lanka today.
The department stated showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Southern and North-western provinces in the afternoon or night.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and Mannar districts during the afternoon or night.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Matara via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle during night.
Winds will be north-easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph, while she sea areas around the island will be slight. (NewsWire)
