A Police Constable who had participated in a protest held by the National People’s Power (NPP) against the increase in water and electricity charges at the Gonagolla Junction in Ampara has been suspended from service.
According to Lankadeepa, the Police Headquarters stated that the suspended Police Constable was attached to the Vellaveli Police Station in Ampara.
The Police stated that the Constable had taken time off from work uninformed and had participated in the protest against the government on 26th March 2023 in civil attire.
They further stated that an investigation had been launched into the matter after which the Police officer was suspended from service with effect from Wednesday (05). (NewsWire)
