An 11-year-old school boy was reported dead in a motor accident reported in the Angamuwa area on the Munamaldeniya- Katupotha Road in Hettipola last afternoon.
The Police stated that the boy who was returning home after school had disembarked from the bus he was travelling in and had attempted to cross the road from behind the bus.
At the time, the child had been knocked down by a mini lorry that had been travelling in the opposite direction.
The child who had sustained serious injuries in the accident died upon admission to the Kuliyapitiya Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as an 11-year-old resident of Anukkanhena, Walauwatte, and a Grade 06 student of Moragane Maha Vidyalaya.
The driver of the mini lorry has been arrested in connection to the accident, while the Hettipola Police is conducting investigations into the accident. (NewsWire)
