Unified Labour Law System : Summary of proposals to be submitted next week

The National Labour Advisory Council has been informed that a summary of the proposals received so far for a new unified labour law system will be presented on June 14, Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara said.

According to a statement from the Labour Ministry, the minister made the remarks when the National Labour Advisory Council met last evening.

Minister Nanayakkara further stated that the public consultation for obtaining proposals for the preparation of a new labour law system is held every week in the Ministry Auditorium and the preparation of the draft of a legislative proposal will be initiated after presenting the summary of the proposals received so far. 

The minister added that the draft will be submitted to the National Labour Advisory Council.

Meanwhile, Minister Manusha Nanayakkara pointed out the importance of convening the National Labour Advisory Council on a monthly basis.

The National Labour Advisory Council also agreed to appoint a committee to look into the matter of whether any sector has been mistakenly left out when appointing trade union representatives to the National Labour Advisory Council.

Furthermore, the National Labour Advisory Council also approved the appointment of a suitable female trade union representative to the Council. (NewsWire)
