A crocodile suspected to be at least 8 feet in length was spotted on the beach in front of Auburn Side Road in Dehiwala today(12), Hiru News reported.
The crocodile was spotted on the beach around 08.15 am and is reported to have come ashore, with villages in the vicinity claiming that the giant crocodile was hunting stray dogs on the coast.
Fishermen who were preparing to venture into the sea are reported to have avoided the beach after spotting the crocodile on shore.
Residents in the area have stated that following the crocodile attack on a diver in January last year, the said sea area is considered dangerous for diving and sea swimming. (NewsWire)
