A man who was wanted for questioning over the death of a woman and her infant in Anguruwathota has been hospitalized after injuring himself with a sharp weapon.
The 24-year-old woman and her 11-month-old infant were reported missing three days ago and were found dead in the Rathmalgoda Forest area yesterday.
The Police said a team of officers had visited the house of a man to question him over the double murder when he was found with a sharp weapon and had attempted to attack the Police officers.
The man eventually injured himself with the weapon when the officer had evaded the attack after which he was admitted to the Horana Hospital and is receiving treatment under Police protection.
The Police stated that the man has been identified as the victim’s brother-in-law. (NewsWire)
