The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) says it has received reports of financial scams promising job opportunities in South Korea, Japan and Israel.

SLBFE points out that recruitment and training for jobs in South Korea is conducted out formally only through the Bureau. Certain groups have defrauded money from job expectants saying that they are offering jobs through the SLBFE recruitment drive.

They also point out that according to the agreement reached between the two countries, employment in Japan will be done only by the State Recruitment Bureau and several licensed employment agencies.

The recruitment for jobs in Israel is done by the Bureau in accordance with the agreement reached between the two countries. In addition to that, recruitment to Israel is only done by several licensed employment agencies.

With regard to charges, only the bureau registration fees and the approved fees by the authorized bodies in the relevant countries will be charged as payments for these recruitments.

Legal action will be taken against individuals who engage in such job trafficking using social media and various other means.

Therefore, the State Minister for Foreign Employment Promotion and Market Diversification and the Bureau urge the public not to fall prey to such fraudulent individuals.

The Bureau also requests the public to inform the following telephone numbers of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment if they have any information regarding this racket.
