A man has died after being attacked by a crocodile while swimming in the seas off Dehiwala today.
The Police said the victim has been identified as a 58-year old and had been attacked while diving off the Dehiwala coast.
They said the man had succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila.
A search operation has been launched by a team from the Attidiya Wild Life Office to capture the saltwater crocodile.
Eyewitnesses said the crocodile that had attacked the diver was nearly 14-feet long.
They said as one diver was attacked, fishermen in the area had immediately ventured into the sea and pulled out the remaining divers onto their fishing boats . (NewsWire)
