The Cabinet has granted approval for the government to amend the mandatory retirement age of doctors in Sri Lanka.
Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that the retirement age of doctors will be extended by one year.
Addressing the media today (18), he said doctors who have completed 63 years this year will be required to retire by 31st December 2022.
Doctors aged 60, 61, and 62 by the year’s end will be required to retire following their date of birth next year.
However, doctors aged 59 this year will be required to retire after they complete 60 years of age in 2023, Minister Gunawardena said.
The mandatory retirement age for public sector employees was recently amended to 60 years. (NewsWire)
