Former Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has urged the government to fulfill their promise of removing the tax on fuel, which will see a significant reduction in prices.

“They were saying in election rallies that they would remove the tax on fuel, which is around Rs. 150/- per liter. With current legal provisions, fuel prices revision should happen by the 30th night. If the taxes could be removed as they promised, a liter is diesel can be given at Rs. 100” he said.

The former minister also thanked the government to continue implementing the relief measures approved by the previous government, which were on hold due to an order by the election commission of Sri Lanka, in view of the Presidential Election.

“There is also a electricity price revision schduled for October which was already prepared by the officials of the Ceylon Electricity Board. We urge the government to send this across to the PUCSL for approval without delay” he said (NewsWire)
