Rains are expected in the Western Province today, with fairly heavy showers of about 50 mm likely at some places, according to the latest weather forecast issued by the Department of Meteorology.
As per the weather forecast issued for the next 36 hours commencing at 04.00 pm today, showers are also expected at times in the Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy showers of about 50mm are also likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Puttalam, Galle and Matara districts.
A few showers may occur in Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in the Batticaloa, Ampara districts during the evening or night.
Fairly strong winds about 40-45 kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms. (NewsWire)
