The Met Department says atmospheric conditions are favourable for evening thundershowers in Sri Lanka during the next few days.
Accordingly, showers or thundershowers will occur at most places on the island during the evening or night. A few showers may also occur in Kalutara, Galle, Matara and Ratnapura districts in the morning.
Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Northern and North-central provinces.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night. Showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Batticaloa via Matara, Hambantota and Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Batticaloa via Matara, Hambantota and Pottuvil may be fairly rough at times. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
