Two Sri Lankan cricketers who are part of the Asia Cup squad have tested positive for COVID-19.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials, however, believe that both players will recover on time for the series.
The two cricketers are set to miss practices that began yesterday (Aug. 24).
Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera are already doubtful for the tournament due to injuries.
Dushmantha Chameera is unlikely to be part of the cricket tournament due to the injury sustained in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) recently.
Meanwhile, Wanindu Hasaranga is likely to miss the first few games of the Asia Cup tournament as he awaits his fitness results, with hopes of playing at least the tail end of the series.
The first match of the Asia Cup cricket tournament will take place between Pakistan and Nepal in Pakistan on August 30.
Sri Lanka will commence its Asia Cup campaign with the first match against Bangladesh in Pallekele, Kandy on August 31. (NewsWire)
