Sri Lanka police have explained the objective of the special traffic operation under the ‘Yukthiya’ operation.
Addressing the media, Deputy Inspector General in charge of Traffic, Indika Hapugoda has said that the vehicles checks are primarily intended to stop narcotics smuggling away from Colombo and to apprehend wanted suspects from fleeing Colombo to other areas.
He also explained that the police officers will be using a special sticker to paste on the left side of the windscreen of checked vehicles so that police officers in subsequent check points can identify an already inspected vehicle (NewsWire)
