Nearly 3,465 suspected dengue cases have been reported in the Colombo Municipality city limits, Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said.
According to Dr. Wijayamuni, an increase in dengue cases has been reported due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions in Sri Lanka.
He further said among the 3,465 suspected dengue cases, 80% have been confirmed as dengue patients.
“Dengue surveys have found only 7.1% breedings grounds related to houses, while 60% have been reported from state institutions and 80% from construction sites,” he said.
Dr. Wijayamuni added that as a result of the survey, they have been able to contain the spread of the disease to a large extent. (NewsWire)
