Sri Lanka reaches preliminary deal on US$14.2 billion bond rework

The Ministry of Finance of Sri Lanka has announced a significant development in its sovereign debt restructuring efforts.

Agreements in principle have been reached to restructure approximately USD 14.2 billion of sovereign debt with holders of its International Sovereign Bonds. This follows negotiations with the Ad Hoc Group of Bondholders (AHGB), representing international investors, and the Local Consortium of Sri Lanka (LCSL), representing domestic financial institutions. Together, these groups hold over 50% of the Bonds.
