Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of Sri Lanka during the afternoon or night today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected at some places in the Uva, Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Eastern provinces.
Showers will occur at times in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning and a few showers may occur in coastal areas of the western province during the morning too.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea area extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in other sea areas around the island, particularly during the afternoon or night.
Winds will be southerly to south-westerly and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
