Three suspects have been arrested over the robbery of over Rs. 01 million in cash and the murder of the security guard at the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depot in Nuwara Eliya on Friday.
The Police said the suspects are accused of having attacked the 85-year-old security with a sharp object, resulting in his death, and stealing Rs.1,052,167 in cash from the depot.
The Nuwara Eliya Police had arrested the suspects, aged 34, 41, and 55 years old, who are residents of Badulla, Rendapola, and Mahawa areas.
Preliminary investigations reveal that two suspects had been employed as a cashier and driver at the depot.
The suspects were produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court yesterday after which they were remanded until 19 December. The Nuwara Eliya Police is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
