Two youths from the same family were reported dead after the Jeep they were travelling in overturned into the Kumburapola Oya along the Kuliyapitiya – Hettipola main road early this morning.
The Police said as the Jeep was recovered from the river, two youths were found stuck inside the vehicle and died upon admission to the Kuliyapitiya Hospital.
The deceased are identified as brothers aged 25 and 27 years old and residents of Kurunegala.
Preliminary investigations suggest that as the area consists of bends, the driver may have lost control of the vehicle and overturned into the river.
