The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in 16 districts, effective until 11.30 pm today.
Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Western, North-western, Uva and Northern provinces and Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, Matara and Ampara Districts during this period.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
