The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has warned of launching a trade union action tomorrow (Jan 24).
Issuing a statement, the GMOA said the trade union action will be launched in protest of the government’s decision to stop the payment of Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance for doctors.
The GMOA alleged that certain officials are attempting to halt the payment of DAT allowance for doctors which was to be included in the salary with effect from January.
The Cabinet had recently approved to increase the DAT allowance for doctors only by Rs. 35,000. Accordingly, the increased allowance was expected to be included in the salary from this January, it said.
However, the GMOA has alleged that there are attempts by certain Finance Ministry officials to prevent the allowance from being added to the January salary.
The GMOA warned that if the DAT allowance is not included in the January Salary due tomorrow, it will resort to trade union action from 08.00 am tomorrow. (NewsWire)
