A suspect wanted in connection with the abduction of a person and the robbery of over Rs. 8 million in cash has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning (16) while attempting to flee to Dubai.
According to police, the Jaffna Police had launched an investigation into the incident, which took place on February 8 in the Ariyakulam area of Jaffna. The victim was reportedly abducted and robbed of Rs. 8.478 million in cash.
Following extensive investigations, law enforcement officials identified a suspect linked to the crime and subsequently issued a lookout notice. Acting on intelligence, airport authorities apprehended the individual while attempting to board a flight to Dubai.
The suspect has been handed over to the Jaffna Police for further investigations.
