The National Peoples’ Power (NPP) led by MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake has refuted reports of a party member crossing over to the Opposition, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
It was reported yesterday, that Samantha Bandara, the only former councillor elected from the Bindunuwewa division of the Polonnaruwa Municipal Council from the JVP, had announced his cross-over by attending the SJB’s Polonnaruwa District meeting of the “Jana Pavura” programme.
Clarifying the reports, NPP Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the individual mentioned was a candidate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, (SLFP) who goes by the name of Saman Kumara according to the nominations submitted at the last local government elections.
“This is a ploy used by the SJB to deceive the public,” he added, addressing a public rally on Saturday. (Newswire)
