Four individuals, including a woman, have been arrested for having obtained a bribe of Rs. 10 million while impersonating Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officials.
The suspects were arrested by officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
According to media reports, the suspects had entered the residence of the complainant in Colpetty, Colombo under the guise of CID officials.
They had thereafter, left the victim’s house after taking Rs. 10.02 million in cash and 3500 US Dollars.
It is reported that the suspects had initially solicited a bribe of Rs. 40 million offering to assist the victim by refraining from taking action against him. (Newswire)
